Viking Names
June 1, 2005 by Alun
A while back I had a Viking Name Generator online. This is that revived. Really it’s to test what I can do with form attribute in a post. If it all messes up then all you’ll see is a link to the Viking Name page - else you’ll see a form below.
Since it went off line I’ve found a couple of other viking name generators at the Quarter and Gorm.
There’s nothing researched about it - it’s merely a bit of fun with string reading and randomisation.
Update Jun 1:
I was a bit surprised that this became popular. There are a couple of other links I should include while I remember. The forenames were taken from Viking Names found in the Landnámabók. The script is a minor adaptation of the Wu-Name script.
So far no complaints, except from Phil Mills who questions the random nature of the script.

Archeoastronomy has a cute toy. Generate your own Viking name. Mine is sbjrn the Ill-starred. Nothing more needs to be said. Via Early Modern Notes….

This morning before I left for school, I’ve gotten myself a new and stronger identity, in order to perform even better on the exam. Sounds pretty stupid, doesn’t it? Well I think it doesn’t. I mean, how bad can the exam be with a thunderstrucking ‘Eyvind the Ill-starred’ in the head section of every page?
